My Story
Before I go any further I want to briefly share my story with you.
I myself have lost over one hundred pounds and I’d like to share with you how I did it. It started with a strong desire to get “me” back. The me I had lost carrying around all that extra weight. I hadn’t felt her in a long time and really missed that me. So, I made a decision to get her back and my weight loss journey began. I can honestly tell you that the joy and peace it has brought me is immeasurable. I am so grateful to feel healthy and strong. I am so grateful to feel like me again. It’s made my life so much more enjoyable. I have an incredible amount of energy. I laugh more easily. Actually I laugh a lot. It feels awfully amazing.
A Beautiful Dream
Here is a tip I’d like to share with you. Let’s make this beautiful dream to get to your goal weight.
If you haven’t already started dreaming. Start! It’s time to awaken that part of you. Dreams do come true. I am no different from you- If I can get one hundred pounds off you can reach your goal too!!
Let’s start with coming up with a vision of you, the highest and best version of you. I have found that the best way to visualize is for it to be as detailed as possible and consistent. So make this fun. This will be an exciting time of your day. Where you are creating. Creating the you that you want to experience. This works, I have used this technique to walk again when I was paralyzed and then used it again to get my one hundred pounds off. Why this is such a great tool is because not only will it help you get to your goal but it will help keep you there. Here’s how. When you start changing the way you perceive a situation you shift the direction it will take. For example, when I started picturing myself at my goal weight I shifted how I thought of myself; it shifted my choices in a more natural way. It kept me inspired. Because I was already feeling her- that new me.
Here’s the vision I used to get one hundred pounds off. This was something I was yearning for. It was very empowering for me. Your vision should be one that is empowering for you.
I pictured myself at the beach. It’s a sunny day, I can feel the warmth of the sun on my skin and the breeze caressing my face. I take a deep breath and I can smell the ocean air. I am appreciating all the shades of blue, the blues shimmering in the water. The sun shining bright in the sky. It’s a beautiful day. I feel at peace. I feel alive. I reach for a cold glass of water and take a drink and feel the freshness of that. I feel happy and I’m smiling. I decide to get up and go for a swim. I feel comfortable walking into the beach in my bathing suit. I feel totally at home here. I get into the water and start swimming. I feel strong, healthy and vibrant. I come out of the water and decide to take a walk along the beach. I feel incredible. Now we’re on the path toward losing weight after knee replacement!
So why share my vision? I want to show that within your vision you want to involve all of your senses. You want feel, see, hear and taste. The most important sense is how you are feeling as you picture your vision. This is so…important!!! Once you have your vision, you should spend time feeling and picturing it when you wake up in the morning or before you go to bed. Spend a few minutes and really allow yourself to feel you, feel your joy, and your peace.
Ok, now we’ve got a dream that is being felt every day. Very empowering.
Here is the beginning step!!! Dream!!!!! Dream big!!! I will follow up with more tips and tools so that you stay empowered. Here comes some new exciting times ahead!!!! Let’s do this!!!!
I’ll be back with another installment of this dream building soon… so watch this space.
