Is it too late to benefit from the X10?
- With the X10 we have treated patents prior to surgery (pre-hab), right after surgery, six to 12 weeks post surgery, and even five months post-surgery with great success
- In some instances patients have seen important benefits from X10 more than 12 month after their surgery
- Every recovery is different, however X10 is successful in reducing/eliminating swelling, gaining knee range of motion, and recovering lost strength quickly
- The X10 has successfuly helped patients recover from:
- Patellar Fracture (surgical and non-surgical treatment)
- ACL/MCL Repair
- Knee Replacement Surgery
- Bilateral Knee Replacement Surgery
What does it cost to use the X10?
- The X10 is fully covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan in the state of Michigan (cost = BCBS Copay)
- Select Home-care companies include X10 in their care of knee surgery patients (cost = BCBS Copay)
- X10 is available as a weekly rental with the corresponding costs:
- Transportation: The total depends on distance from an X10 Hub (see availability)
- Rental Cost per week for as many weeks that you need the X10 (typically two weeks)
- We accept Care Credit which allows patients to pay small monthly payments with no interest for their time in our program.
How long will I need the X10?
The X10 gets the job done quickly: it is traditionally a short term rental.
Patient use X10 for 10-21 days to:
- Recover directly after surgery
- Avoid a knee Manipulation Under Anesthesia/Arthroscopy
- Recover after A Knee Manipulation Under Anesthesia/Arthroscopy
Pre-hab programs (pre-surgery range of motion and strength building) run from 10-21 days
Patients who use X10 after a patella fracture may need the machine for a 21-28 days
How does the X10 compare with other devices?
The X10 is completely unique, patented, and represents a giant leap in knee surgery care. There is no comparable device. Important attributes of the X10 include:
- Passive movement that adjusts to the human body
- Keeping patients out of pain
- Enabling range of motion gains with no new swelling
- Reduction of edema
- Controlled active motion (mobility under your own power)
- Highly efficient strength training:
- Works quadriceps, hamstrings, calf
- Stops muscle atrophy soon after surgery
- Helps regain pre-surgery strength
- Wireless data transmission to a personal X10 Recovery Coach (assigned to each patient)
The X10 is a significant improvement to antiquated technology like the CPM machine or Romtech. These devices are limited in their ability to move the knee to proper flexion. The value of the CPM machine for knee surgery recovery has been debunked over the past 10-15 years, and for most surgeons, hospitals and insurance companies it is no longer in use.
Is the X10 well known in the U.S?
X10 Therapy was founded in 2008. The X10 Machine is primarily in use in the state of Michigan, our home state. In Michigan it is well-known in the orthopedic surgery community. X10 machines are designed, developed, and manufactured in Michigan.
Geographic Expansion
As we expand geographically we introduce the X10 to surgeons as part of our work with new patients. Patients have introduced X10 to hundreds of surgeons across the nation. New research, published in The Global Journal of Orthopedics Research in December 2018, has greatly expanded our profile internationally. As we expand we expect medical professionals who keep up with the newest published research will be aware of the X10.
If your surgeon does not yet know about X10, we are ready to send a packet of information to your surgeon’s office and schedule a meeting to introduce the X10 in-person.
