We have a special guest, Bob Wilson, who recently underwent knee replacement surgery. Bob shares his journey and the reasons behind his decision to have the surgery, which included his declining golf game. He tells us how he found his surgeon and opted for the X10, a specialized knee recovery device.
Despite a small scheduling hiccup, Bob was determined to prioritize his health and proceeded with the surgery on November 10th. He praises the combination of the X10 and his physical therapy, saying it has yielded outstanding results. Bob emphasizes the importance of consistently using the device, even sharing that he used it four times in a single day. He believes that using the X10 in the week leading up to the surgery significantly contributed to his recovery, as he noticed a significant improvement in his knee function shortly after the procedure. Bob expresses his happiness and satisfaction with his progress, noting that he is doing better than other patients who had their surgeries earlier.
We were very pleased with the significant improvement Pat felt from using a machine that moved his leg back and forth. We asked Pat about the value of the in-home healthcare team, and he found it invaluable due to their kindness and motivation, especially from his physical therapist, Caitlin, and assistant, Jay. Pat had a post-op visit with his physician’s assistant, who was pleased with his progress.
Moving on, Bob discusses the X10 Knee Recovery System™ in detail. He explains that the machine is a pressure-modulated knee recovery device that applies pounds of pressure. Bob shares that his strength increased from 148 pounds to 178 pounds, particularly in his quadriceps, within just six days post-surgery, which is considered unheard of. His doctor also acknowledged his remarkable progress, as Bob was already able to straighten his leg perfectly and had a flexion bend of 107 degrees within the same timeframe.
Bob’s physical therapy results show that he surpassed the average goal of 120 degrees. Within 16 days post-surgery, his flexion was at 116 degrees, and he gradually increased it by 10 degrees each week using the X10 machine. He emphasizes that the machine’s feedback on his progress was crucial, as he wouldn’t have known his exact degrees of flexion without it. The measurements provided by the machine motivated him to continue working towards his goals.
Bob firmly believes that relying solely on in-home physical therapy exercises would have slowed his progress. Without the X10 machine, he wouldn’t have known how much flexion he was achieving or when to push through discomfort. He credits using the X10 three to four times a day, combined with the feedback it provided, for his speedy recovery and consistent progress.
Bob is grateful that he never experienced setbacks, as his progress improved each day without regression.
Bob’s Knee Replacement with X10 Therapy
To conclude, Bob shares his personal experience with the X10 system. He notes a lack of swelling and increased mobility, making his in-home physical therapy sessions easier compared to doing the exercises on his own. The X10 chair provided motivation, and he saw progress in his range of motion. Now, four weeks post-surgery, Bob has reached 126 degrees of free range without the machine. He appreciates that the X10 provided a period of rest and helped him achieve his goal. While uncomfortable at times, Bob believes that the X10 system made a significant difference in his recovery and highly recommends it to others considering it.
