X10 and Coronavirus

X10 Coronavirus Update: For Upcoming Knee Surgeries

X10 Coronavirus Update: For those of you who are anticipating or have recently had knee surgery and are concerned about the Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) you should consider the X10 in-home knee recovery system.

Knee Replacement

Most knee replacement patients are over 50. This age group is at a higher risk of Covid-19. Experts say that the safest place for you to be is in your own home.

Other Non-Elective Knee Surgeries

Everyone is at risk of getting this virus. You have an alternative to recovery at a clinic for ACL, MCL, Patellar Fracture and other surgeries with The X10 Knee Recovery System™ in your home.

In-Home Recovery

Fortunately, the X10 Knee Recovery System™ was specifically designed as an in-home telemedicine system which has been successfully used by over 5000 patients.

A Clean Machine

Before we bring the machine to your home it is thoroughly disinfected. Because the X10 automatically texts all your data to your personal X10 Recovert Coach this enables them to work closely with you, while making it unnecessary for them to visit you in-person. This information can also be shared with your surgeon’s office.

Concerns if you have had joint replacement surgery

Those who have had surgery want to know if they are at any increased risk for problems because of COVID-19.

  • COVID-19 is a viral respiratory disease. It does not pose a risk for infection in your joint. Periprosthetic Joint Infection is a bacterial infection which can be treated with antibiotics.
  • Unless you have one of the risk factors (over 60, heart or lung problems, or diabetic), you should be at no greater risk for problems associated with COVID-19 than anyone else, even though you may have just recently had joint replacement surgery. However, you should still follow all the guidelines for protecting yourself from exposure to the virus. (Please see the CDC guidance link above).

Concerns if you have surgery scheduled in the spring or summer

  • No one knows how the virus will impact hospitals in the coming months. Most states and individual cities are developing contingency plans on how their hospitals and medical communities would handle a sudden large influx of patients who are ill with the virus and cannot recover at home.
  • Many hospitals are canceling elective surgeries such as joint replacement to free up resources that might be needed to treat COVID-19 patients, should the need occur in a specific area. For guidance regarding your joint replacement, contact your surgeon for further information.
