Learning the Range of Motion Program on X10

The range of motion program delivers the safest and fastest means of achieving your best extension (straightening your knee) and flexion (bending your knee). You will use this program daily both before and after surgery.

The X10 is unlike any other recovery device in the world. The sensors on the machine provide you with guidance and crucial information for your quick recovery. For more about the creation of the X10 click here.

Purpose and Function

Better bending and straightening before surgery results in better bending and straightening afterward. With your Range of Motion Pre-hab program you are conditioning your leg muscles to bend more than you are bending currently. Any gains you see over the days you use the X10 pre-surgery will help you after surgery as your body will have muscle memory with regard to your extension and flexion. You are essentially paving the way for better leg performance after surgery with this exercise.

How to Run the Program

  1. Press Range of Motion.
  2. Place foot between rollers, other foot planted on stool.
  3. Put on thigh strap.
  4. Press the GREEN button stating “Start Therapy”
  5. The leg will move back and forth trying to make the Current Angle reach the set Target Angle.
    1. There is a Target Angle for the green box, Extension. Furthest Angle: 0
    2. There is a Target Angle for the orange box, Flexion. Furthest Angle: 130.
  6. The BLUE arrows will guide you toward the goals.
    1. If you reach the Target Angle the blue arrow will light up to alert you and prompt you to increase.
    2. If the machine senses the need for more pressure to move the leg to the target angle the Max Pressure arrow will light up blue and you will press it to go further and reach your Target Angle.
