I grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and have always played competitive sports. I injured my knee for the first time when I was 13, playing baseball. I then injured it again, in college, and had knee surgery performed at that time. My knee got progressively worse over the years, and finally made it difficult to do normal activities. There were no options, other than knee replacement surgery, so at age 61 I made the decision to move forward with the surgery in order to gain a more active lifestyle.
